Cullen was instrumental in enabling Murch to edit Cold Mountain using Apple's Final Cut Pro editing system — the first major studio picture to do so.

With Jarhead, Cullen used PIX Project to streamline the editorial department's workflow and data management.

"The biggest change using PIX is the communication of ideas is almost instantaneous. In the past we would have sent [media] by email, or put it on an FTP site, or send it on a DVD. Either it took too long, or the quality wasn’t good enough, it wouldn’t fit, or it wasn’t organized."

Cullen, who bridges the space between the creative process and the logistical realities, is in a good position to evaluate a solution like PIX Project.

“The biggest surprise for us was how easy it was to send very high quality media. With PIX we’re basically able to send ideas back and forth to the director in a very short, time, so it allowed the creative process to be very smooth and efficient. Especially because we could do it without compromise.”
